SUBJECT:                      Authorize Long Distance Travel to New Orleans, Louisiana from November 26, 2018 through November 30, 2018 for Iyesha Miller-Health Services Manager, Dean Eichelmann-Emergency Preparedness Program Coordinator and Christine Hannigan-Emergency Preparedness Support Specialist, Public Health Division          

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Iyesha Miller, Dean Eichelmann and Christine Hannigan new staff in the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program have been given an opportunity to attend a three day training course for personnel who are responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of emergency management programs. 

This training will include learning critical skill sets such as:

                     Identifying important regulatory, accrediting and standard-setting organizations/agencies for healthcare emergency management

                     Identifying essential elements of a typical all-hazards healthcare facility/system emergency management program

                     Methods of managing medical surge

                     Ethical issues healthcare personnel may face in a disaster

This training is fully funded through Emergency Preparedness Program Grant including registration, flights, hotels, meals, shuttles and parking.

As Health Services Director, I fully support these employees attendance at this training.
