SUBJECT: (a) Waive the competitive bidding process, pursuant to Lake County Code Section 2-38.2, based on the determination that competitive bidding would produce no economic benefit to the County; and (b) Authorize the Public Services Director / Assistant Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase order not to exceed $246,139 to Peterson CAT for a Caterpillar 330F Hydraulic Excavator
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The adopted FY 18-19 budget for the Integrated Waste Management Division of the Public Services Department includes appropriations for the purchase of an excavator for use at the Eastlake Landfill. Staff recently located a used Caterpillar 330F excavator through Peterson CAT, the locally authorized vendor and service representative. The 2016 excavator has 600 hours and the price is approximately 25% of what a new excavator would cost.

FISCAL IMPACT (Narrative): The County has a reserve account in the solid waste enterprise fund for equipment purchases. The FY 18-19 budget includes sufficient funds for this purchase.
