SUBJECT:                     Adopt Resolution Authorizing the Water Resources Director to Execute a Funding Agreement for a State of California Parks and Recreation, Department of Boating and Waterways, SAVE-18 Grant in the amount of $50,000, with a project budget of $60,000

 

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

 

Staff is requesting the Board of Directors of the Lake County Watershed Protection District (District) approve a resolution authorizing the Water Resources Director to execute a funding agreement with the State of California Parks and Recreation, Department of Boating and Waterways.

 

The District has been approved for funding in the amount of $50,000.00 to remove and dispose of abandoned, wrecked or dismantled vessels, or parts thereof, or any other partially submerged objects which pose a substantial hazard to navigation; and to remove and dispose of surrendered vessels, or parts thereof, which are in danger of being abandoned with a likelihood of causing environmental degradation or becoming a hazard to navigation.

 

Grant funds are reimbursable with a 10% match required. Staff included a 20% match based on actual match required to implement our last SAVE grant and to ensure the District was competitive during the selection process. The total project cost will be $60,000.00. Match will be provided through labor.

FISCAL IMPACT (Narrative): Total project cost will be $60,000.00. Twenty percent match will be made through labor costs.  The additional $30,000 in expense which is currently not budgeted will be addressed during the mid-year budget process.
