SUBJECT: Consideration of Acceptance of $21,000 Donation from Lake County PEG TV, for the purpose of upgrading Board chambers and on-location Audio/Visual equipment
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

As your Board is aware, the County partners with the Cities of Clearlake and Lakeport to support the ongoing operation of Lake County PEG TV, a Public, Educational and Governmental television station.

You also may be aware that limitations in the capacity of the audio/visual equipment in our Board chambers have kept us from making Board meetings and other Public Information efforts optimally accessible. Ensuring broad access to meetings in which the public's business is conducted is critical to productive public discourse, and our office will always endeavor on your Board's behalf to ensure this need is met.

My staff has worked to develop a proposal for equipment that will resolve some immediate issues and broaden our capacity to record and convey accessible Public Information, moving forward. This proposal includes acquisition of assistive listening devices, for example, in addition to cameras and other equipment video equipment you may expect.

Lake County PEG TV has generously agreed to donate up to $21,000, toward the cost of these important equipment upgrades.

Ed Robey of Lake County PEG TV, your Board's representative on the PEG Board, will be here to present this donation.

As your Board is aware, the countertops and panels in your chambers date back to the original construction of the building and are in a state of obvious disrepair. Last year, staff purchased materials for replacement. These materials have been stored. It is essential, before the new A/V equipment is brought in, that the new countertops and paneling be installed in order to avoid making holes and cuts shortly thereafter.
