MEMORANDUM

TO:                                          Board of Supervisors

FROM:                     Rob Brown, District 5 Supervisor

(By Anita L. Grant, County Counsel)

DATE:                                          October 16, 2018

SUBJECT:                     Necessity For Extra Item Not on the Posted Agenda - Discussion and Consideration of County Response to Recent PG&E Shut-Offs

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Supervisor Brown was out of the area on County business for much of Monday, October 15 and asked me, in his absence, to prepare this request for an extra item for the meeting of the Board of Supervisors on October 16.

This request for an extra item has been prepared to advise your Board that a matter arose since the posting of the current agenda which requires immediate Board discussion and /or consideration based upon the following facts:

Over the last few days, the County and all of its residents have been warned of and/or have experienced PG&E planned power shut-offs throughout the County.  PG&E determined such action was necessary as a safety measure.

Power shut-offs such as these have a significant impact on the residents of the County and may continue to re-occur at any time such that a discussion and consideration of a response from this Board must occur as quickly as possible and certainly before the next meeting date of the Board.

Therefore, based on the foregoing, Supervisor Brown asks that this matter be taken up as an extra item for discussion and/or consideration at the October 16 meeting of this Board.  Thank you.
