TO:                                          Lake County Sanitation District, Board of Directors

FROM:                     Jan Coppinger, Special Districts Administrator

DATE:                                          December 11, 2018

SUBJECT:                     Consideration of Change Order #2 for Anderson Springs Sewer Project for an increase of $9,650.16 and a revised contract amount of $6,957,650.16 and authorize the Administrator to sign.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

On November 7, 2017 a contract with K.J. Woods was signed in the amount of $6,948,000 for installation of the collection line for the Anderson Springs Sewer Project.

Schedule B Sheets 15 and 16 of the original project plans indicated the use of Flexible Rubber Expansion Joints.  These plan sheets were replaced per Addendum No. 1 provided on 9/22/2017 (and acknowledged with the Contractor’s bid package) with Sheets 15R and 16R which indicated the use of EBAA Iron Ex-Tend Expansion and Contraction Joints Model 204F20 in an attempt to comply with Caltrans Structures requirements.

After the contract was awarded, Caltrans Structures required a change in the expansion fittings prior to issuing an encroachment permit.

Revised Schedule B Sheets 15R (REV1) and 16R (REV1) were issued to the Contractor on 5/18/2018 which indicate EBAA Iron Flex-Tend Flexible Expansion and Contraction Joints Model 406F20 which were required to comply with Caltrans Structures requirements and obtain the required Caltrans encroachment permit for the project.

This change order reflects the difference in cost required to meet Caltrans requirements.
