SUBJECT: (a) Approve return of unexpended funds in the amount of $84,820.18 to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and (b) authorize the Auditor’s Office to issue a check
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The County of Lake received federal funds in the amount of $210,000 for the period of October 1, 2017 - September 30, 2018. These funds were to be used by the Sheriff’s Department for marijuana eradication. Due to several wild fires, including the Pawnee, Spring, Sulphur, River and Ranch, we were unable to utilize all of our marijuana funding for this period.
The Sheriff’s Department requests approval from your Board to authorize the Auditor’s Office to return to the Drug Enforcement Agency the balance of unexpended monies in the amount of $84,820.18.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: The Sheriff’s Department recommends (a) return of unexpended funds in the amount of $84,820.18 to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and (b) to authorize the Auditor’s Office to issue a check.
