SUBJECT: Approve Long Distance Travel for Program Coordinator Elise Jones to Philadelphia PA from March 26 through March 29, 2019 to attend the NNPHI Open Forum for Quality Improvement and Innovation in Public Health
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Elise Jones, Program Coordinator in the Public Health Accreditation Program has been invited to attend Open Forum for Quality Improvement and Innovation in Public Health by the National Network of Public Health Institutes.
The National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) Mobilizes more than 40-member public health institutes, as well as 10 university-based regional training centers, and 40 affiliates - NNPHI is a social, financial and information network, connecting more than 8,000 subject-matter experts with organizational partners across the nation.
The national network is a go-to resource for Public Health training, analysis, and best practices. They also provide important network connections for communities, government agencies, foundations, the health care delivery system, media, and academia.
This extensive training opportunity is not available in California. The benefits that Ms. Jones will be exposed to include a learning track specific to Public Health Quality Improvement and Accreditation readiness.
In addition:
Ms. Jones will be better able to build and enhance networks with peers in the public health practice, as well as share best practices and lessons learned with an array of public health practitioners.
Foster innovations in public health by applying the knowledge gained at the forum with partners in our community.
Actively build partnership and business opportunities with colleagues.

This opportunity will help Ms. Jones as she continues to train and educate staff and the department towards Public Health Accreditation.
