MEMORANDUM

TO:                                          Board of Supervisors

FROM:                     Bruno Sabatier, District 2 Supervisor

DATE:                                          February 26, 2019

SUBJECT:                     Consideration of Reactivation of Airport Land Use Commission

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

With the newly approved Economic Development Corporation's Strategic Plan and with one of their priorities being the support of updating and upgrading the airport, it is important that the County look at reactivating the Airport Land Use Commission.

Our local Commission, formed May 4, 2004, has been inactive for some time.  The purpose of the Commission is to provide for the orderly development of the County’s public use airport and the area surrounding the airport.  According to the California Public Utilities Code 21670, the Commission should consist of seven members:

2                      Appointed by the mayors of the cities within the County

2                      County representatives appointed by the Board of Supervisors

2                      Aviation experts appointed by a selection committee of public airport managers

1                     Member of the general public appointed by the other six members
