SUBJECT: 10:00 A.M. - Consideration of Approval of Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Lakeport Fire Protection District Calling for a Mail Ballot Election for Voter Approval of a Parcel Tax
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Lakeport Fire Protection’s District (LFPD) Board of Directors adopted Ordinance No. 1819-01 on Feb. 5, 2019. This Ordinance, upon 2/3rds vote of our District’s registered voters, will repeal the existing Lakeport County Fire Protection District Ordinance No. 9697-1 and City of Lakeport Ordinance No. 784(96) (11/22/99 Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) of Lake Co. completed the annexation of the City of Lakeport Fire Department by the District, and all rights and obligations under Ordinance No. 784 (96) transferred to the District) and impose a special tax increase for fire protection and prevention, rescue, emergency medical services and transportation, and other services relating to the protection of lives and property.
As a result of adopting Ordinance 1819-01, the Board of Directors adopted Resolution 1819-13 on Feb. 5, 2019, requesting the Lake County Registrar of Voters to hold a mail ballot election on May 7, 2019. Both the Ordinance and the Resolution were passed at a duly noticed, Special Meeting of the Board of Directors.
Therefore, the Lakeport Fire Protection District requests the County of Lake Board of Supervisors to approve our request for the Lake County Registrar of Voters to hold a mail ballot election on May 7, 2019.
