SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution amending Resolution No, 2018-132 Establishing Position Allocations for Fiscal Year 2018-2019, Budget Unit No. 2202, Sheriff-Central Dispatch and Budget Unit No 2301, Sheriff-Jail Facilities
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
After consultation with County Administrator, Carol Huchingson I am submitting a position allocation change request for your review.
As you know, my office has experienced a high vacancy rate this past year and I have recently had two management team members leave employment, resulting in vacant positions in the Correctional Captain classification and Central Dispatch Manager classification. To address this issue, and structure the management in a manner to provide efficient, effective leadership, and for succession planning, I am requesting an adjustment to my current position allocations. These changes will not overly impact my current budget and I will stay within my designated net County cost.
I would like to reallocate the two management positions that are currently vacant. They are the positions of Central Dispatch Manager and Correctional Captain.
I'd like to delete the existing Correctional Captain Position from 2301 and reallocate it as a Sworn Captain Position. There is currently a lieutenant working out of class in that position now, and the duties of that position are commensurate with a Captain.
I'd like to also delete the existing Central Dispatch manager Position from 2202 and replace that with a sworn lieutenant position. This position has also been vacant for several months and I'm in need of a management level person to perform the duties in that assignment. The appropriate and comparable classification for that position is a lieutenant.
