SUBJECT: Consideration of Lake County Standard Agreement, for funding to enact California Complete Count Census 2020
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
January 29, 2019 your Board adopted the Resolution to “Opt-In” to Outreach Agreement with the California Complete Count Census 2020. The U.S. Census Bureau is required to conduct an accurate count of the population every ten years and that census data is used to determine federal funding levels and congressional representation, both critical to state and local governments.
California traditionally has one of the highest hard to count populations in the nation and as such, our state has made a significant commitment to Census 2020 outreach and communication efforts. As part of this effort the County of Lake is eligible to receive $75,000 (seventy-five thousand dollars) from the California Complete Count Census 2020 Office to assist with our outreach efforts to help ensure that every resident of the County is counted.
To receive this money the County is required to enter into a standard agreement with the Government Operations Agency-California Complete Count-Census 2020.
