SUBJECT: Consideration of Side Letter with the Lake County Deputy Sheriffs Association (LCDSA) to provide Deputy Sheriffs assigned to patrol the opportunity to be placed on On-Call Status
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
At the request of Sheriff Brian Martin and on behalf of your labor negotiations bargaining team, consisting of myself, Chief Negotiator Margaret Long and HR Director Pamela Nichols, I am bringing forward this recommendation for a side letter making it possible for patrol deputies to be placed on on-call status, and to be compensated for said status.
Attached for your reference is a compelling statement from the Sheriff describing his need for this, in light of his department’s staffing shortages.
This is being brought forward as a side letter with the intention of incorporating these provisions into the next Memorandum of Understanding anticipated to be ready for the consideration and adoption of your Board within the next 30 days.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve Side Letter with the Lake County Deputy Sheriff Association (LCDSA) to provide Deputy Sheriffs assigned to patrol the opportunity to be placed on On-Call status, authorizing the Chair to sign.
