SUBJECT: Approve Waiver of the 900 hour limit for Extra Help Construction Inspectors for the Anderson Springs Sewer Project, allowing Mark Dellinger to work up to 960 hours and Ray Porter to work up to 1,000 hours
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Construction on the Anderson Springs Sewer Project requires an on-site inspector. Special Districts has two extra help construction inspectors that have been certified in HDP Pipe Fusion and have been providing inspection coverage since the project began.
The construction crew has been working continuously in an attempt to expedite the project. The accelerated work schedule of the contractor will deplete the 900 hours the extra help inspectors are authorized to work before the end of the fiscal year.
For consistency and continuous inspection services by trained staff, I am requesting your Board authorize waiving the 900 hour limit for both extra help inspectors.
The request is to authorize Mark Dellinger, Lead Inspector, to work up to 960 hours, which is all he is allowed by his CalPERS retirement. Authorize Ray Porter to work up to 1,000 hours, which is the maximum allowed to remain compliant with the current CalPERS regulations.
This request, if authorized will allow sufficient hours to maintain consistent inspection through the fiscal year.
The Construction Inspection services are paid for with grant funds which are sufficient to cover the additional hours.
