SUBJECT: Consideration of Resolution of Support in Support of a Landowner seeking to Name an Unnamed Geographical Feature located solely within the Landowner's Private Property
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Mr. Gregory Van Oss is the owner of a parcel located in Middletown, California, APN# 014-140-11, which contains a hill which Mr. Van Oss wishes to formally name. The United States Board on Geographic Names (hereinafter, the "Board), is the entity which approves and standardizes geographic names world-wide for the federal government. Mr. Van Oss would like to apply to the Board so that the Hill on his property may be officially recognized by the federal government by the designation he has chosen. The name selected by Mr. Van Oss for the Hill is Benny Hill, which is intended by him to be a respectful salute to a celebrity, long-deceased, whose talents he enjoyed.
