SUBJECT:                      (Sitting as the Lake County Air Quality Management District Board of Directors) - Adopt Resolution Authorizing Participation in the SB 1260/SB 901 Prescribed Fire Program, and Authorizing the APCO to Sign All Program Documents.

 

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:  As a result of the numerous wildfires throughout California over the past several years, the State Legislature established the Fire Prevention and Protection: Prescribed Fire Program through Senate Bill 1260, and funded this work through Senate Bill 901.  This program, incorporates activities of the Air District related to smoke forecasting, permitting, monitoring, and reporting.  The grant also provides funds to provide additional public outreach related to prescribed fire activities.

STAFFING IMPACT (if applicable): Significant staff impact potential for the short terms, but this is a reduced impact over wildfire response impacts.
