SUBJECT: Approve Advanced Salary Step appointment of Richard Bachman to County Veterinarian
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
As your Board is aware, it is within your authority to approve advanced step salary appointments for employment candidates with extraordinary qualifications, such as Richard Bachman, who has accepted my conditional offer of employment to our County Veterinarian position. Richard Bachman is a licensed Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine, has over 30 years of experience, and has focused on shelter medicine for 24 years. Richard Bachman is very well qualified for appointment at Step 5 on our salary scale.

Salary savings resulting from contractual veterinarian work will be applied to the cost.
FISCAL IMPACT (Narrative): Adequate funds exist in salary wages and savings of contractual services for veterinarian care to cover costs. New fiscal budget has been worked to accommodate this change.
STAFFING IMPACT (if applicable): Will enable Lake County Animal Care and Control to provide a high level of care to the animals under its care while providing low cost services to the public.
