BACKGROUND:
The Public Services Department is planning to submit grant applications this August to the California Department of Parks and Recreation Proposition 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program for three county parks: Trailside Park in Middletown, Kelseyville Community in Kelseyville, and Hammond Park in Nice. The intent of the program is to create new parks, or develop new recreation opportunities in existing parks, located in critically underserved communities. A critically underserved community is defined as an area within a half mile radius of a site that either has less than three acres of park space per 1,000 residents or a median household income below $51,026. Statewide $255 million will be distributed in the 2019 grant round, with an additional $395 million to be made available statewide in future rounds.
