SUBJECT: Adopt Resolution Authorizing the 2019-20 Grant Project-Lake County Victim-Witness Assistance Program and Authorize the Chair to Sign the Certification and Assurance of Compliance
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) has released the request for application for the Victim-Witness Assistance Program Grant which will reimburse costs of up to $338,212 and requires a local funds match of up to $78,273. However, we will request a waiver of 80% of the local match requirement. We plan to budget $15,655. This is an annual, on-going grant that must be applied for each year. If awarded, this will mark the 34th year that the Victim-Witness Division of the District Attorney’s Office has been funded. The grant period will run from October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020 and will pay for approximately 4 full time equivalents of permanent Victim Advocates, 100% of one Extra Help employees, 50% of operating expenses, and upgrades to equipment/software including the Victim Assistance Tracking System.
