SUBJECT: Discussion and Consideration of (a) the Initial Draft of an Ordinance Amending Specified Sections of Article 1 of Chapter 3 of the Lake County Code Relating to Agriculture and Plant Protection Pertaining to Industrial Hemp; and (b) the Formation of an Ad-Hoc Committee to consider making Recommendations to Industrial Hemp Regulations.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The above-described draft ordinance is offered by the Agricultural Commissioner. This is merely the Agricultural Commissioner’s first draft so there is still the need to define terms and conditions more clearly, in addition to any further changes directed by your Board. At this point, my office has simply assisted in putting the document into appropriate form.
The intention of this submittal is to initiate review and discussion by your Board as to the type and scope of regulations which may be imposed by the County, by and through the Agricultural Commissioner, in regard to industrial hemp cultivation.
Staff looks forward to further direction from your Board.
