SUBJECT: Adopt Proclamation Recognizing the South Lake County Fire Protection District for 50 Years of Ambulance Service
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

WHEREAS, the community and communities within the South Lake County Fire Protection Districts 293 square miles have received 50 years of contiguous Ambulance Service; and
WHEREAS, the South Lake County Fire Protection District (Middletown Fire Department) had provided contiguous Ambulance Service since 1969; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department members that were trained, supported and started this service included, but were not limited to Ken McNamara, Andy Pedro, Paul Montmarquet, Bob Adams, Jim Breland, Chuck Crowfoot, Marrio Albo, Norm Evans, Leland Miller, Charlie Wooten, Sheldon Bell, Dale Strickler, Ernie Olson, Reed Hardester, Don Emerson, George Williamson, Andy Pedro, Ken McNamara, Ray Moody Jr, Eustace Messer, Floyd Kibbee, Paul Montmarquet, Norman Evans, Sue Evans, Bob Coulter and John Irwin Senior; and
WHEREAS, the original Fire Department members were trained to the highest standards in 1969 to deliver Ambulance Services; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department delivery of care has grown from the first delivery of Oxygen, to the most advanced standards of today, and
WHEREAS, this service precedes the 45 years since in 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized the third week in May of each year to be EMS Week, to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities; and
WHEREAS, this service precedes the 39 years since in 1980, the State EMS Authority Enacted Health and Safety Code Title 22 Section 1797.201 and 1797.224 recognizing their contiguous and continuous service for perpetuity;
