DATE:                                          January 7, 2020

SUBJECT:                     Approve Code Enforcement Officer Safety Personnel Protective Equipment Policies and Procedures for Body Armor and Pepper Spray

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

New policies and procedures for body armor and pepper spray have been reviewed and approved by both County Counsel and Risk Management. At the request of the Board of Supervisors at the October 8th meeting, we are seeking for direction and possible action from the Board. I have changed the policy for the body armor to be concealed under clothing and not the visible type as was shown during the Board of Supervisors meeting on October 8, 2019. We used the pepper spray policy that is in place for Lake County Animal Control.
