MEMORANDUM

TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
FROM: Denise Pomeroy, Health Services Department
DATE: January 7, 2020
SUBJECT: First 5 State of Our Children Presentation
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Carla Ritz, First 5 Executive Director, Dr. Gary Pace, County Health Officer; Allison Panella, Hope Rising Executive Director and Brock Falkenberg, Supt. of Schools would like to present the Board an overview of the State of Our Children Project.

First 5 Lake has been working with colleagues from around the county since January on a project called the "State of Our Children." Our intent is to educate and inform in order to raise awareness about areas of concern related to the next generation in Lake County, promote prevention as a strategic mechanism for long-term change in the County, and help the District Supervisors and County residents to see their unique role in increasing the protective factors of children and families in our community. At the conclusion, we would like to ask for the District Supervisors to partner with us in 2020 in holding town hall gatherings in each District dedicated to children's issues and prioritizing prevention and to add the County of Lake logo to the State of Our Children efforts going forward indicating its role as an ongoing partner.

This team worked alongside many other partners in collaboration of this project including : Adventist Health Clear Lake, Redwood Community Services, Lake County Probation, North Coast Opportunities, Redwood Coast Regional Center, Lake County Tribal Health, Lake Family Resource Center, First 5 Lake County, Mother-Wise, Lake County Office of Education, Lake County Children's Council, CASA of Lake & Mendocino Counties, Lakeview Health Center, Easterseals of Northern California, and County of Lake Health Services Department.

If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact Carla Ritz at 263-6170 or myself at 263-1090.
