Subject: Consideration of Amendment Number 1 to Lake County Standard Agreement Number CCC-18-20013, in the amount of $88,000

This item is being submitted as an "extra" agenda item. The justification for this request to consider an item not on the posted agenda is as follows:

The need to take action came to my attention subsequent to the posting of the current agenda.

There is a need to take immediate action before the next available agenda.

On January 24, 2020, I was advised of the California Complete Count-Census 2020 department's offer of additional funding, in the amount of $13,000 to be made available to Lake County for local collaborative outreach efforts. In order to receive the additional funding, the state required your Board approve the attached amendment to agreement, also by January 24, 2020. However, at staff's request, the state has agreed to accept our approved amendment immediately following your January 28, 2020 meeting.

Background:

On March 13, 2019, your Board approved the Standard Agreement making Lake County eligible to receive $75,000 to assist with outreach efforts to help ensure that every resident of Lake County is counted. Since that time, County staff has been working collaboratively in this effort, with many community partners.

With the additional funding, the County will become eligible for a total of $88,000 in state funding. Priorities for the additional funding include:

1. Printing of census collateral materials in languages that support the hardest to count demographics and local outreach strategies approved in your Implementation Plan.
