Subject:                     Adopt Resolution to Amend the Budget for FY 2019-2020 by Appropriating Unanticipated Revenue for Public Health Services and Authorize the Health Services Director to Sign                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

 

Executive Summary: The County of Lake, Department of Health Services, Public Health Division recently applied for and received additional funding from California Department of Public Health for the Overdose Prevention Initiative Program. This award will be distributed over the course of three years for a total of $120,000. The amount awarded for the fiscal year 2019-2020 is $30,000.

 

The additional funding will be used to restart the Lake County Overdose Prevention Initiative Program including the operating and maintenance expenses, and staffing costs to carry out various regulatory requirements of this program.

 

California Department of Public Health’s Overdose Prevention Initiative Program has provided funding to Lake County to enable participation in the Overdose Data to Action Initiative project. The overall purpose of this project is to support local efforts to reduce the number of opioid and other drug related overdoses and deaths in California counties through evidence based and data informed initiatives. Project objectives and statewide strategies will include:

 

                     Strengthen Statewide Collaboration

                     Promote Safe Prescribing

                     Building Community Capacity

                     Expand Access to Medication Assisted Treatment

                     Increase Access to Naloxone

                     Reduce Access to and Negative Consequences of Illicit Drugs

                     Address Priority Populations in High-Risk Settings

                     Promote Public Education and Awareness
