Subject: Consideration of Letter to the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology requesting restrictions be lifted temporarily to allow local barbers and hairstylists to go into the homes of their clients to provide services during the COVID-19 crisis
Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):
Through the Blue Collar committee, I have been in close contact with local barbers and hairstylists who are unable to work during the Shelter in Place Order resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. This group of local professionals has asked for the support of our Board, to send a formal request to the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, advocating for temporary lifting of restrictions, allowing these operators to work in the homes of their clients.
As detailed in the attached draft letter, this group of local professionals is fully committed to ensuring all property safety protocols are in place, while working in client's homes.
The attached draft letter requests a temporary lifting of restrictions during the Shelter in Place Order and also encourages that a temporary policy be put in place to allow this again, should future waves of the disaster necessitate.
