Subject: Adopt Resolution Approving Cooperative Agreement No. 20-73-06-0256-RA with the USDA to provide an Animal Damage Control Program for the County of Lake

Executive Summary:

I would like to ask the Board to adopt the attached Resolution which approves the Financial Plan between Lake County and USDA APHIS Wildlife Services for July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. The Financial Plan amount is $110,202. The previous agreement was $106,475. The revenue accounts for 62% of the budget and it originates from local property taxes and state fees.

Wildlife Services maintains an integrated wildlife damage management program in Lake County to protect residents, property, livestock, crops and natural resources from damage caused by predators and other nuisance wildlife. The Wildlife Services program provides Federal leadership in managing these issues. Federal trappers use wildlife damage management strategies that are biologically sound and environmentally safe. They work with State Fish and Wildlife when managing wildlife problems and strive to reduce damage caused by wildlife to the lowest possible levels while at the same time reducing wildlife mortality.
