Memorandum

Date: July 28, 2020

To: The Honorable Moke Simon, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Crystal Markytan, Social Services Director

Subject: Approve Contract between the County of Lake and Lake Transit Authority for Local Public Transportation Services in the Amount of $45,600, from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, and authorize the Chair to sign.

Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):
Social Services has contracted with Lake Transit Authority since 1999 to provide transportation to eligible CalWORKs participants so they can participate in Welfare-to-Work Activities. Transportation services, provided in the form of bus passes, help participants to access local public transportation and can be used to travel to and from important appointments, job interviews, and more. This service helps families to achieve the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency.

Beginning this fiscal year, 2020-2021, the contract has been revised to better fit the changing needs of our clients and increase the efficient use of funds. The amount of monthly, unlimited use bus passes has been reduced and supplemented with punch cards that have a limited number of trips but no expiration date, unlike the monthly passes which expire at the end of each month. These changes reduced the contract amount by $28,320.
