The Community Development Department - Code Enforcement Division published a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Abandoned Vehicle Towing and Disposal Services on April 23, 2020 with a deadline to respond on May 21, 2020.
The County of Lake Community Development Department (CDD) - Code Enforcement Division manages the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program (AVA) on behalf of the County in the unincorporated areas. Lake County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority was formed through a Joint Exercises of Powers Agreement executed in September 1, 1991. Both, the City of Lakeport and the City of Clearlake are Authority Committee Members. The AVA Program was suspended by the California State Controller's Office effective January 1, 2017 and reinstated April 1, 2019. The Authority was created to implement a county-wide AVA plan, financed by a one dollar surcharge on motor vehicle license fees. For a number of years, the County of Lake has contracted with tow companies to perform this tow service in the unincorporated areas. Due to the pending contract expiration dates, the County requested qualified contractors for these services.
