To:                                          The Honorable Moke Simon, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Jeff Rein, Risk Manager/Safety Officer

Subject:                     Approve Wildfire Smoke Protection Policy

Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):

The attached Wildfire Smoke Protection Policy is presented for your Board's consideration. This policy is borne out of emergency regulations set forth by CalOSHA which are intended to reduce employee exposure to wildfire smoke.

The proposed policy reflects the provisions required by the regulation and also includes some practical provisions which our Lake County experience has proven effective including closure of HVAC economizers and placement of air scrubbers.

The proposed policy has been circulated to department heads for review and reflects their input.
