Memorandum

Date:                                          August 25, 2020

To:                                          The Honorable Moke Simon, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Scott De Leon, Public Works Director

Subject:                     Adopt Resolution of Intention and set a time for Public Hearing on September 22, 2020 at 11:00am to Name Existing Unnamed Roads in the Jerusalem Valley Area of Middletown.

Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):

A request has been made by CALFire, with support of the affected property owners and the Sheriff’s Department and the South Lake Fire Protection District, to name several existing roads located in the Jerusalem Valley area of Middletown. These roads to be named are not in the County-maintained Road System, nor are they proposed to be.  The proposed road names are to be for identification purposes only.  For the convenience of the Board, sketches of the entire road networks are attached.  In the past, emergency responders have had difficulty in finding residences due to the network of unnamed roads leading from Jerusalem Grade.  This road naming project will change the address from Jerusalem Grade to a specific road address, thus enabling first responders to get to the site over the most direct route and saving time.

There are no other roads in the County with the names as proposed.  The proposed road names are: Red Canyon Road, Gray Pine Road, Caswell Ranch Road, Raccoon Flat Road, Corvette Lane, Burnt Oak Road, Snake Ranch Road, Dooley Road, Bachelor Road, Palmer Road, Egger Road, and Lisenbee Lane.

The attached Resolution of Intention sets forth the location and the proposed names of these roads.  Your favorable consideration of the Resolutions will facilitate proper names for these existing unnamed roads.
