Memorandum

Date: September 22, 2020

To: The Honorable Moke Simon, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Carol J. Huchingson, County Administrative Officer

Subject: Approve Change to Board's Annual Meeting Calendar for 2020

Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):
Ordinarily, your Board does not meet during weeks containing holidays. One exception, the last two years, has been Thanksgiving week. During Thanksgiving week, your Board has met on the Tuesday preceding Thanksgiving, because alternatively, you have adjourned the following Tuesday to enable members to attend the annual CSAC conference which typically follows the week of Thanksgiving. Your 2020 calendar was originally set with this in mind.

However, in light of the pandemic, plans for the CSAC conference have been changed to November 12-19, 2020, the week preceding Thanksgiving, and the conference is now is entirely virtual. As a result, staff recommends you change your annual meeting calendar to adjourn on November 24, 2020 (Thanksgiving week), and meet on December 1, 2020 (previously not calendared for the reasons explained above).
