Subject: Approve the Public Defender Contract Amendment Number 4 between the County of Lake and Lake Indigent Defense, LLP for Public Defender Services for the Purpose of Extending the Term of Existing Agreement and Increasing the Monthly Compensation by $7,000 per month
Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):
County desires to continue contracting for the provision of indigent services with Lake Indigent Defense, LLP (LID) and requires additional time to explore restructuring options and complete negotiations.
To accomplish these goals, both County and LID mutually request to extend the contract term twelve (12) months from December 31, 2020 to December 31, 2021 and increase monthly amount of agreement previously agreed upon from One Hundred and Eighteen Thousand Dollars ($118,000) to One Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($125,000) beginning January 1, 2021.
The increased cost of $42,000 for this fiscal year will be adjusted at mid-year.
