Subject:                     Recognition of the Lake County Office of the Auditor-Controller/County Clerk for Government Finance Officers Association and State Controller’s Office Awards for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2019

Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):

Our County has received the California State Controller’s Award for Counties Financial Transactions Reporting for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2019.  Criteria for this award included, “Timely submission of the Counties Financial Transactions Report; proper classification of funds, revenues, and expenditures; and complete and proper reporting of outstanding debt.”

California State Controller, Betty T. Yee, in a written statement, noted, “Lake County’s excellence in reporting helps my team produce accurate and useful local government financial data which is relied upon by policymakers, researchers, and constituents throughout California.  Please convey my congratulations to all county staff who contributed to your success in receiving this award.”

Lake County, on the strength of the efforts of Saderlund and her team, has also been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by GFOA, for our 2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).  GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant achievement by a government and its management.

Please join me in congratulating and thanking Cathy and her staff for their extraordinary efforts, and recognizing these remarkable achievements.
