Subject: Approve Agreements between the County of Lake and a) Majestic Landscaping and b) Fire Wise Landscaping for Hazardous Vegetation Abatement and authorize the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to sign the Agreements

The Code Enforcement Division of the Lake County Community Development Department was charged with the procurement of contractors for the removal of hazardous vegetation in the three recently approved Zones of Benefit (Zones) for the Clear Lake Riviera, Buckingham and Riviera West Subdivisions. These three zones were approved by the majority vote of the property owners in the respective subdivisions, which created a special tax assessment to fund the removal of vegetation that created fire hazards within the communities. Code Enforcement Staff worked collaboratively with representatives of the three Zones to develop lists of properties to abate, and earlier this year they solicited bids from local contractors for the work. A total of eighty-nine properties were advertised, and staff has received bids for all but twelve of those parcels.
Two local contractors - Majestic Landscaping and Fire Wise Landscaping - submitted the low bids on sixty-one parcels and fifteen parcels, respectively, and a summary of the parcels for each contractor is included with the proposed Agreements herein attached. The total costs for the Majestic Landscaping and Fire Wise Landscaping contracts are $93,500 and $67,100, respectively.
