Subject:                     Resolution authorizing the Lake County Watershed Protection District to file a grant application for the Boating Safety & Enforcement Equipment Grant Program (BSEE).

 

Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):

Staff is requesting the Board of Directors to authorize Lake County Watershed Protection District staff to file a grant application through the California Division of Boating and Waterways Grant Program FY2021/22 which funds will not exceed $150,000. This item is not anticipated to be controversial; therefore we are requesting this item to be placed on the consent agenda.

Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) provides grants to local government agencies to purchase boating safety and law enforcement equipment through the Boating Safety and Enforcement Equipment Grant Program (BSEE).

Local government agencies who can demonstrate a need for boating safety and law enforcement equipment pursuant to the application assessment criteria. Grants are for local boating safety and law enforcement only.

EXAMPLES OF ALLOWABLE MARINE PATROL ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT:

     •Law Enforcement Patrol Boats

     •Marine Patrol Equipment

     •Personal Watercraft (PWC)

     •Search and Rescue Equipment

     •Dive Gear

     •Engines, repowers and replacements

Level of Assistance: Up to 100% of eligible costs. Based on the portion of time the equipment will be used for boating safety and enforcement activities.

Staff recommends that the Board of Directors of the Watershed Protection District, approve the request to file a grant application for the “BOATING SAFETY AND ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT 2021/2022 GRANT”.
