Memorandum

Date: April 27, 2021

To: The Honorable Bruno Sabatier, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Shane French, Director of Information Technology

Subject: Authorize the IT Director to sign the ATO document as authorized agent in order to allow the County to purchase services from AT&T at Calnet contract rates

Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):
County Departments routinely purchase telecommunications services including telephone, internet, and wide-area-network services from telecommunications vendors. Calnet is a Statewide set of contracts used to efficiently purchase these services. As in the past, the County of Lake has been eligible to purchase services using the Calnet contracts as a California local government entity. The services offered on the Calnet contract are available at reduced prices and favorable terms compared to typical market rates. The County currently purchases most telecommunications services from the existing Calnet contract, but that contract is expiring and requires a new Authorization to Order to be signed.

In order to make purchases using the Calnet telecommunications contracts via AT&T, an eligible entity must sign the Authorization To Order document provided by the company. The Authorization To Order document certifies that the County is an authorized entity and that it wishes to be authorized to order services listed on the Authorization.
