Subject: Approve Out of State travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for California Homicide Investigators Conference (CHIA) for two investigators from August 24-27, 2021.
Executive Summary:
The Sheriff's Office requests to send two detectives to the California Homicide Investigators Conference (CHIA) being held in Las Vegas, Nevada. A copy of the course flyer is attached for your review. Travel dates will be August 24 through August 27, 2021. Two of our investigators will be attending and the estimated cost will not exceed $2,000.00.
The CHIA Conference is designed to provide case management techniques as it applies to complex homicide investigations and case studies. This conference is taught by some of the most exemplary investigators in the state and nation. During this three day conference the participants will learn about mass shootings, major crimes management, murder investigations, serial killers and homicide case studies using Google.
Funds are allocated in the Sheriff/Coroner budget 2201, object code 28.30/29.50 in FY 2021/22.
