Memorandum
Date: June 10, 2021
To: The Honorable Bruno Sabatier, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors
From: Scott De Leon, Public Works Director
Subject: Consideration of Amending Contracts for Abandoned Vehicle Towing and Disposal Services with Jones Towing and Kelseyville Auto Salvage
Executive Summary: (include fiscal and staffing impact narrative):
In August 2020 your Board approved contracts for towing abandoned vehicles as part of the Lake County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program in the unincorporated areas of Lake County. The vendors for these contracts were selected using the Request for Proposal process in accordance with the County Purchasing Ordinance. Both vendors have been excellent in the performance of their services, and staff is recommending amending their existing contracts to add funding to continue performing the work. Specific details of each amendment are as follows:
Jones Towing - This contract was originally executed for a period of three years with an expiration date of 2023, and funding of $30,000 for the first year only. This amendment maintains the expiration date of three years but adds $40,000 for each of the second and third years, for a total contract amount of $110,000.
Kelseyville Auto Salvage - This contract was originally executed for a period of one year with an expiration date of 2021, and funding of $10,000. This amendment extends the expiration date of this contract for two years to match the expiration date of the other vendor and adds $10,000 for each of the second and third years, for a total contract amount of $30,000.
