Memorandum

Date: June 22, 2021

To: The Honorable Bruno Sabatier, Chair, Lake County Board of Supervisors

From: Steven Hajik Agricultural Commissioner Sealer of Weights and Measures

Subject: Adopt Resolution Approving Unanticipated Revenue to Fund Aquatic Weed Control Program

Executive Summary:

The Lake County Agricultural Commissioner anticipates receiving $43,618.00 in the unanticipated revenue this fiscal year. This is the result of increased unanticipated revenue from the Unclaimed Gas Tax (UCGT), (001.2601.452.53-90). With your Board's approval, this revenue will be used to fund a portion of the County's aquatic weed control program.

The unanticipated revenue needs to be spent this fiscal year if the County expects to meet the Maintenance of Effort (MOE with California Department of Food and Agricultural) requirements for receiving UCGT funds in FY 21/22. If the County does not meet the MOU requirement, UCGT funding could be jeopardized in FY 21/22. The UCGT is the largest single revenue source to the Agricultural Commissioner's budget.
