Executive Summary: Lift Stations #1, 2, 3 and 4 have stationary generators to provide backup power, however, we do not have a mobile generator large enough in our fleet to power those stations in the event we suffer a failure of one of the stationary generators. With the PG&E PSPS approaching or in the event one of the permanent generators fails, this proposed mobile generator is needed to ensure uninterrupted operation and greatly reduce the likelihood of sewer spills into Clear Lake.
Staff located a low hour 300 kVa, 3-phase, 480 volt generator from a vendor in Sacramento with a listed price of $69,965. Seven additional quotes were then solicited for a comparable generator from other vendors. Prices ranged from approximately $87,000 for a similar used generator to between $128,000 and $208,000 for a comparable new generator.
