Subject: Approve the Extension of Food Services Agreement with Trinity Services Group Inc., to supervise the preparation and service of meals at the Lake County Jail/Hill Road Facility and authorize the Sheriff to sign the letter for the CPI increase.
Executive Summary:
On March 15, 2016, the Sheriff's Department was authorized to enter into contract negotiations with Trinity Services Group, Inc. to provide supervision of the preparation and service of meals at the Lake County Jail/Hill Road Facility. This contract is for a period of 3 years with the option of one (1) year extensions. We have entered our fifth year of this contract.
In accordance with the Trinity Contract, meal prices shall be adjusted annually, effective on the anniversary date of the contract, by an amount equal to the change in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Price Index, All Urban Consumers, U.S. City Average, Food Away From Home. Due to the increase in the CPI, Trinity adjusted the price per meal. The CPI increase requires approval of the attached document
FISCAL IMPACT (Narrative): Funding in the amount of $550,000 is allocated in the Sheriff/Jail budget 2301 object code 13.00.
STAFFING IMPACT (if applicable): Without the use of Trinity, we would be required to hire kitchen staff to supervise the incarcerated workers, if any incarcerated workers were available.
