Subject: Approve Long Distance Travel for Sergeant John Drewrey to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to attend the 9th Police Recruitment and Retention Summit from January 23-26, 2022 for an amount not to exceed $4,000
Executive Summary: The Sheriff's Department requests to send Sergeant John Drewrey to the 9th Police Recruitment and Retention Summit to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A copy of the prior year course flyer is attached for your review. Travel dates will be January 23, 2022 through January 26, 2022. The estimated cost will not exceed $4,000.00. Attached is a copy of the flyer from last years' seminar.
This summit will provide the opportunity to hear from national leaders on tried and proven tactics and improve your recruitment and retention efforts specifically for law enforcement. One will discover strategies to overcome the damage the pandemic has made on our recruitment and retention objectives, gain new approaches and increase diversity of our candidate pool to reflect the communities we serve, utilize cost cutting strategies to maximize exposure on a shoestring budget while remaining competitive within our region, adapt and evolve to remain competitive with virtual recruiting techniques that can remain as part of your overall strategy post-pandemic, implement techniques to build bridges with the communities you serve and strengthen the bond between the police and the people. This conference is taught by some of the most exemplary investigators in the state and nation.
Payment will be made from the Sheriff/Coroner budget 2201, object code 28.30/29.50 in FY 2021/22.
