MEMORANDUM

TO:                                          BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

FROM:                     Denise Pomeroy, Health Services Director

DATE:                                          March 6, 2018

SUBJECT:                     Presentation of the Annual Syringe Exchange Program (SEP) Report by Denise Pomeroy, Health Services Director

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

In February 2008 the Board of Supervisors approved a resolution in support of Assembly Bill 547, a syringe exchange project to combat the spread of HIV and blood-borne hepatitis infections. The Health Services Department also received approval of a Statement of Understanding recognizing Any Positive Change as a bona fide organization with the knowledge and understanding to provide this service.

The last SEP report provided was in 2013.  A lapse in reports unfortunately occurred as the result of disruptions ensuing from the series of disasters that occurred in Lake County between 2015 (when a report would have been due) and 2017.

Any Positive Change provided 2016 data to Dr. Karen Tait prior to her retirement.  Attached is the annual report to the Board on this program.

Thank you.
