Subject: Approve Memorandum of Understanding between the County of Lake and the Kelseyville Unified School District for the period of February 1, 2022 through June 30, 2022 to provide a School Resource Officer to Kelseyville Unified in the amount of $43,000 for the first pro-rated Fiscal Year and an automatic renewal for one additional Fiscal Year in the amount of $86,000 and authorize the Chair to sign.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Lake County Probation enjoys a very positive relationship with our local school districts and has sought to increase our involvement with school aged youth. Kelseyville Unified School District (KUSD) is interested in contracting with the Probation Department for the purpose of a School Resource Officer (SRO).
KUSD wishes to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding for the purpose of assigning a School Resource Officer to their campus. They have funding available to pay $86,000.00 per complete Fiscal Year ($43,000.00 for the first pro-rated Fiscal Year), which equates to approximately 92% of the cost of a full time DPO. As this is a service we want to provide, and have provided, without the funding, this MOU would represent a great benefit for Lake County.
The Lake County Probation Department has adequate staffing to commit a School Resource Officer to the Kelseyville Unified School District.
Please consider this as my request for the Board of Supervisors to approve the Memorandum of Understanding between the County of Lake and the Kelseyville Unified School District and authorize the Chair to sign.
