Proclamation
Honoring Dr. Gaylord "Doc" Starin in Celebration of His Outstanding Life and His 100th Birthday
WHEREAS, Dr. Starin was born on May 1, 1922, in Colonie, New York, to Charles Augustus Starin and Ellen Clark. Dr. Starin established his career as a widely renowned dentist in San Francisco. His work there was so influential that he received a wing dedicated in his name at the San Francisco School of Dentistry. Five years after his retirement from dentistry in 1984, he moved to Lake County to enjoy its bucolic lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, A World War II veteran, Dr. Starin is a devoted member of his American Legion Post 194 in Kelseyville, California, of which he has been a member for 32 years. He is also a member of the Kelseyville Lions Club and the Lakeport Senior Center; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Starin, affectionately referred to as "Doc" by his loved ones, is described by those close to him as smart, alert, kind, independent, humble, and generous. Dr. Starin is a very active person who goes to the gym often and never without a smile; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Starin remains a loving family member to his sister, nephew, and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband to his wife, LaVerne, who has since passed away.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that today we honor Dr. Gaylord "Doc" Starin for being a staple to the Lake County community and a true model citizen.
