Subject: a) Consideration of Second Amendment to the Agreement for Medical Services at the Lake County Detention Facility for a Sixth Month Extension in the Amount of $1,551,647.22 and b) Consideration and Discussion of the Establishment of an Ad Hoc Committee and its Role and Purpose
Executive Summary:
On June 3, 2022, your Board discussed agenda item 7.6 with Sheriff Brian Martin and Health Services Director Jonathan Portney regarding the administration of the medical services for the Lake County Detention Facility contract. County Counsel informed your Board that the second amendment for the sixth-month extension of the medical services contract in the amount of $1,551,647.22 had been reviewed and would be available for your Board's consideration on June 14, 2022.
Further, there was discussion about the need to develop a request for proposal (RFP) to seek qualified companies to provide medical services for the inmates at the Lake County Detention Facility. The Administrative Office offered to assist in drafting the RFP by further developing the scope of the work in consultation with the Sheriff's Office, Department of Health Services, Department of Social Services and Department of Behavioral Health.
At that same meeting, there was discussion of an Ad Hoc Committee with County Supervisors Bruno Sabatier and Jessica Pyska as members. Staff recommends your Board provide input on next steps to this committee related to the provision of medical services at the Lake County Detention Facility.
