Memorandum

Date:                                          July 12, 2022

To:                                          The Honorable Lake County Board of Supervisors

From:                                          Scott DeLeon, Public Works Director

Subject:                     Approve use of PG&E Settlement Funds for Various Road Projects and Authorize the Public Works Department to Include Appropriations in the FY21-22 Budget

Executive Summary:

In April, your Board considered the distribution of funds received from PG&E as part of a settlement following the Sulphur Fire in 2017.  During this discussion, your Board approved the allocation of one million dollars from the settlement funds to be used on a pavement rehabilitation project for roads that were impacted by the fire.  The Board memo prepared for that discussion inadvertently only specified FY 22-23 for the use of funds, and the Department of Public Works is not being reimbursed for expenses incurred during FY 21-22.  Today’s agenda item is intended to request your Board’s approval of expanding the use of the PG&E settlement funds to FY 21-22, which will allow the reimbursement from Budget Unit 1920 to Budget Unit 3011 in the amount of $423,926.36 for the purchase of Hot Mix Asphalt from the only material source, Granite Construction, for the aforementioned project.
