Subject: Sitting as the Lake County Air Quality Management District Board of Director, Approve travel of more than 1,500 miles for Douglas Gearhart, APCO (or Elizabeth Knight, DAPCO as an alternate) to attend the 2022 National Ambient Air Monitoring Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from August 21-25, 2022, Utilizing Federal EPA Grant Funding Received for this Conference.
Executive Summary: EPA has provided grant funds this year to attend the National Ambient Air Monitoring Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The EPA has provided funds to pay travel costs of attending the conference as part of required training for air monitoring programs overseen by EPA. A portion of this conference relates to new monitoring regulations, planning, network upgrades, and other long term planning requirements. As such, myself or Elizabeth Knight (as my alternate) should attend the Conference as we are undergoing major upgrades to our monitoring network this year. EPA has provided funding in prior years (pre-COVID) and District staff has benefitted from attending these Conferences. No additional expenditures are expected from the District's operating budget.
