AmeriCorps CivicSpark Fellow Nikol Damato will present an overview of her service year with the Lake County Water Resources Department where she focused on reviewing and providing recommended modifications to the Chapter 23 - Clear Lake Shoreline Ordinance (Ordinance) on behalf of the Lake County Water Resources Department (LCWRD).
Throughout her eleven-month AmeriCorps service term, Nikol collaborated with LCWRD staff to identify gaps in the Ordinance and draft amendments to improve LCWRD’s ability to manage the lakebed in the public trust. The process was highly collaborative and involved participation by the LCWRD Lakebed Management team.
In this presentation, Nikol will present the progress made thus far on amendments to the Ordinance. The presentation will include an overview of the amendment process, from interviewing LCWRD staff to facilitating collaborative workshops and meetings. Nikol will present Ordinance gaps identified through this process, detail the current status of the Ordinance amendment process, and introduce several key amendments drafted in collaboration with LCWRD staff. Finally, Nikol will present next steps for LCWRD staff to continue the process of amending the Chapter 23 - Clear Lake Shoreline Ordinance once her term of service is complete on July 30, 2021.
